The thrilling extra-inning contest that saw the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays by one run attracted a aggregate 51M spectators across the US, Canada, and Japan territories. Major League Baseball announced this is the highest-rated Fall Classic Game 7 since the 1991 contest between the Twins and Braves.

Television Ratings Breakdown

The Saturday epic contest drew 27.33 million audience members on Fox networks, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s digital services. According to ratings data, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the week.

It also is the top-rated Fall Classic game since the 2017 final game involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which averaged over 29 million. This represents a 16% improvement over the last finale between the Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19M.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game ranked 4th, the fourth game ranked seventh, Game 5 was 8th, and the third game finished in thirteenth place.

International Audience Figures

In Canada, the climactic game averaged over 11 million watchers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports. This was the most-watched English-language broadcast in Canada since the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the deciding game started at 9 p.m. local time, it attracted 12 million viewers. This followed last Friday’s sixth game – where Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed a single run in six innings – recorded 13.1 million spectators, making it the most-watched World Series matchup on a single network in the country.

Overall Averages and Trends

The entire seven-game series averaged 15.71M audience members on the Fox network, a two percent rise from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This marks the initial instance since 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has recorded viewership growth for two straight years.

Counting the Game 1 broadcast on Univision, the total US average was 16.1 million. The overall World Series viewership in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in Canada.

The complete playoffs on Fox, FS1 and FS2 recorded over 8 million viewers, an 8% increase compared to last year and Fox’s strongest playoff performance since 2017.

Major League Baseball announced that the World Series was televised in over 200 nations and regions by 44 broadcasting partners in sixteen different languages.
