It's tough for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

This is the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus an additional six T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, those for the record chasers, are all that remain for a side that has won it all.

The fact it required as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase exceeding 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in the women's 50-over format, is, honestly, a tribute to the bowling attack that have represented Australia over five decades.

It's challenging for their hitters to possess a record if not provided the possibility.

In the end, the result of Australia allowing 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy getting a platform to create her latest masterpiece.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the title decider and was awarded tournament MVP. She guaranteed her country would not fail again.

If this latest epic knock topped that previous effort can be debated.

Many contend the reasoning behind final game tension. Different voices suggest with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was much more difficult to predict.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 happened while she led the batting statistics, but this knock followed six innings in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it was a challenging time because it seemed my form was missing whatsoever," said Healy.

"But once you enter the playing area, your competitive nature activate and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's competitive nature has always been her major advantage - and an irreplaceable characteristic in succeeding legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, dismissed by the 22-year-old seamer in each encounter, but this time it merely gave Healy's spark.

A single was taken off the bowler's initial ball and from there the batsman was underway.

"A chance to play and face the challenge with her and just have a bit of fun in that regard, somewhat inspired me," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her quickest at a World Cup - and her ton in 84 deliveries while she flogged anything short, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

By the time she was removed the team needed 66 additional runs at run per delivery - a manageable total now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm pleased we have the assurance to achieve that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it another time but, if we do, we know we can achieve it."

That comment will be the ultimate thing Australia's opponents at this championship want to hear.

In recent days a sense they will succeed regardless of circumstances has only strengthened - this victory coming after victory over Pakistan by 107 runs despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against traditional opponents England in Indore in ten days, by which point a last-four spot may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they were eliminated from last year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a match Healy was absent due to damaged tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the first time at a significant event.

So great is her will, she later said she regretted not playing through the pain.

Yet even as she later admitted those physical issues have postponed thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is expected to be her concluding event as leader in 50-over cricket and she is yet to win a world championship as leader.

Victory in India would take her to the summit of her ultimate challenge.
